Tarkov New Player Guide From the Tour to level 10
For new characters and right after Prestige · Game 1.3.0 · Data as of 2026-11-02
- When you start, the story quest line Tour is assigned automatically. Push through it in order to unlock Skier → Mechanic → Prapor → Peacekeeper and the maps one by one.
- Side quests open after a trader is unlocked, in batches of 2~4 per loyalty level (LL). Complete a few or raise the LL and the next batch appears.
- For Tour hand-ins, keeping 5 FiR building materials/tools and 2 FiR weapons plus money (250,000₽ · 8,000$) ready in advance means you will not get stuck.
1. What is open at the start
| Traders | Therapist, Ragman (Fence trades based on Scav reputation) |
|---|---|
| Maps | Ground Zero — the other maps unlock as you progress through the Tour |
| Traders unlocked later | Skier · Mechanic · Prapor · Peacekeeper (Tour), Jaeger · Ref · Lightkeeper (side quests, see 4 below) |
2. Tour order
| # | Traders | Task | Needed | Unlocks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | — | Complete the Ground Zero tutorial and leave via the Klimov Street extract (behind the Skyside building). You do not have to follow the on-screen prompts. | None | Start trader dialogue |
| 2 | Therapist | — talk to them, then hand over 250,000₽. The money does not have to be Found in Raid. | 250,000₽ | Map: Streets of Tarkov |
| 3 | Ragman | Interchange— extract via 'Survived' or 'Run-through'and report to Ragman. If extracting is hard, simply entering the raid 3 times also counts. | None | Trader: Skier · Map: Customs |
| 4 | Skier | Customs Survived or Run Through extract (or 3 visits) + hand in any 5 FiR building materials/tools all at once (cannot be split). | 5 FiR building materials/tools | Trader: Mechanic · Map: Factory |
| 5 | Mechanic | Factory Survived or Run Through extract (or 3 visits) + hand in any 2 weapons— hand them in. | 2 FiR weapons | Trader: Prapor · Map: Woods |
| 6 | Skier | Woods— kill any 3 enemies + Survived or Run Through extract on Woods (or 3 visits). The kills and the extract can be in different raids. | None | Trader: Peacekeeper · Map: Shoreline |
| 7 | — | Shoreline — at the far southeast, use the intercom on the guard tower in front of Terminal. Do not hug the Terminal fence, do not shoot the guards, and do not spam the intercom after being told to leave (you will be killed). | None | Next step |
| 8 | Prapor | After a Survived or Run Through extract on Shoreline (or 3 visits), hand over 5 PMC dogtags. The dogtags do not need to be Found in Raid and you do not have to get the kills yourself. | 5 PMC dogtags | Map: Reserve |
| 9 | Mechanic | 8,000 dollars— hand them over. Dollars can be bought from Peacekeeper with roubles. | $8,000 | Map: Lighthouse |
| 10 | — | TerraGroup Labs access keycard— carry it into Streets of Tarkov (underground entrance in front of Klimov 16A) or Factory (sewer tunnel off the flooded basement) and use the transit to enter The Lab (available 1 minute after the raid starts). Check the Lab director office on floor 2 (O21) · the server room next to the hangar on floor 1 · the sewer route at the basement 'Sewage Conduit' extract, in that order, and you are done (no need to use the extract or survive). | TerraGroup Labs access keycard | Map: The Lab · Achievement Pathfinder |
The Lighthouse unlock costs 8,000 dollars per the official wiki (posts saying 20,000 or 25,000 dollars are outdated or wrong). '3 visits'is an alternative to a survived extract, so if extracting is hard you can simply enter and leave repeatedly.
3. How side quests unlock (since 1.1.0)
- For each trader, the LL1 base quests open first; complete a few or raise the LL and the next batch (2~4) opens. The 'Group unlock'label on quest pages refers to this.
- Some still form chains as before, with a big reward at the end such as a rare purchase or craft unlock (the reward is shown when you accept the first quest).
- Scav kill objectives count only regular and sniper Scavs and player Scavs. Bosses, Raiders and Rogues do not count.
- Some objectives can now be completed by group members (icon on the quest screen). Some quests are still solo-only.
- Loyalty level requirements no longer include sales volume — only level and reputation remain.
4. Special trader unlocks
| Jaeger | Introduction (Mechanic) — given when you talk to Mechanic. Find the encrypted message at the Jaeger camp on Woods and hand it in to unlock Jaeger. Jaeger matters for food/medical quests and the Hideout, so do it as soon as Mechanic opens. |
|---|---|
| Ref | Easy Money - Part 1 (PVP) / PVE: Easy Money - Part 1 (PVE) (Skier) — Level 10 + Skier LL2. Put up the poster in the living room of the Scav base on Customs to unlock Ref. |
| Lightkeeper | Reworked in 1.1.5, the 'To the Light' chain — requires Lighthouse unlocked via the Tour, plus LL3 with every trader except Fence and Ref + Fence reputation 2.0 + asking Mechanic about Lightkeeper to start. (The old 'level 33 · Network Provider' requirement from older guides no longer applies) |
5. Early quests — up to around level 10 (105)
Only quests with LL1 and a level requirement of 10 or less, unlocked by the first batch at most, and whose prerequisite quests are all early as well (story quests that are a choice between alternatives are excluded). The trader must already be unlocked via the Tour. Labels: LL1 = available right away · Group 1 = after completing 1 quest from the previous group of the same trader · Chain = after completing the previous quest. The full list is on Quests, sorted by trader.

7. Early tips
- The Found in Raid (FiR) mark only applies to items you picked up in a raid and brought out alive. Gear returned via insurance and items bought from traders or the flea do not have it.
- Since 1.1.0, trader sell prices are up about 25% on average, trader buy prices are down 20%, and the flea market fee rose from 3% to 5%. Where you sell makes a bigger difference now.
- Using the Tour rule that '3 visits'·'dogtags do not need FiR' , you can unlock maps without getting stuck even early on when gear is scarce.
- If you have Prestiged, also check Prestige requirements and rewards. PVE level 1 has lighter requirements than PVP.
- In raid, hover over an item and press F2 — Price Overlay instantly shows whether the item is needed for quests or the Hideout and what it sells for.
